What's It All About?
Years ago, like last century (HA!), my dad broadcast a program on the college radio station called “Music For A Sunday Afternoon.” He’d highlight a composer or occasionally an artist, discuss their music, and play several recordings of their work. He’d record the voiceovers ahead of time and give the station a playlist, usually checking the albums out from the MC library.
Dad’s been gone thirty years now.
Each Sunday afternoon, his stereo would be playing his program, mainly so he could keep an ear out for dead air, when the student DJ missed the end of a piece and thus the cue for a voiceover. He’d give them a minute or two before calling the station.
At any rate, I would occasionally write some posts about cover songs or various musicians for my blog, and I started styling them “Music For A Sunday Afternoon” as a tribute to my dad. I’ve decided to move them over here to Substack because the MFASA posts don’t really fit in with the rest of my blogging topics – my Voice topics, as I call them. Seems like the music posts might find a bigger audience here.
Posts will go up Sunday afternoon–but you already guessed that part, didn’t you?
